We took off for a 4 day weekend in sunny San Diego this past weekend. We wanted to get away somewhere that we could be pretty much guaranteed good weather, but not too hot, and less than 6 hours travel time per direction. Success! Of course, we hit the famous San Diego Zoo.
It’s definitely one of the best zoos we’ve been to, and it’s easy to see how you could spend a couple of days here.
Our accommodation was downtown near the marina so we had some great places to walk and eat nearby.
A great place to visit was Coronado. Beautiful beach, the classic Hotel Del Coronado, and some hidden shops and restaurants, and a very laid back vibe.
We also stopped in Old Town San Diego, where a Founders Days festival was taking place. In addition to street food, there was also live music and dancing.
It was a great place to visit, but too short. If we come again I’d like to do the USS Midway tour and go to Mission Beach.
